school menu noticeFollowing the unique challenges of preparing and serving food to our students last school year, Lakota’s Child Nutrition Department is happy to return to its normal service and menus. At the same time, we and other school foodservice programs nationwide are facing unprecedented challenges with the supply chain and availability of some menu items. We are finding that this means occasionally changing our posted menus with little to no notice in some of our schools.

While it is our goal to serve the posted menu each day at every school, this standard practice won’t likely be feasible until the supply chain issues are resolved. Please know that we will always do our best to substitute the scheduled menu item with another item that is as similar as possible.  If a menu item is substituted with a new food choice, it will be clearly identified for all students to see. If a student has any questions about the dietary information for the new item, they will be able to get more specifics from the school nurse who will be available to help and discuss with all students.

We are working closely with our distributors and manufacturers to secure both the food and supply items needed to support our program and the average 10,000 students we serve on a daily basis.

As a reminder, even though meals this year are still free for all students as a result of USDA funding, families are still reminded to complete the Free/Reduced Application (https://www.lunchapplication.com) so that student fees may/may not be waived.

Thank you for your patience as we face an obstacle affecting a multitude of industries at this time.
