Board Approves Contract Extension for Superintendent Miller

photo of superintendent millerMembers of the Lakota Board of Education voted unanimously to extend Superintendent Matthew Miller’s contract for an additional five years, beginning Jan. 2021. The 4-0 vote, with member Michael Pearl absent, took place at the Dec. 14, 2020 meeting.

“In our community, WE are incredibly blessed to have one of the best superintendents in the state, if not the country, leading Lakota Local Schools,” said Board President Brad Lovell. 

Miller came to Lakota in 2017 with a solid track record of being innovative in his approach to education, thinking outside the box, looking to the future and always putting the best interests of children first. 

Some new initiatives since his arrival include:

Miller is also recognized as a leader at both the state and national level:

  • He serves on the state superintendent’s advisory board and the governor’s school safety committee;

  • He was recently named Lead Advisor for the Future Ready Schools Leadership Advisory Team;

  • Lakota was recently one of just three districts in the country to receive the 2020 ISTE Distinguished District Award;

  • Miller was awarded the 2019 Corporate Tech and Innovation Award Winner presented by COMSPARK; and 

  • Miller was recognized by the National School Public Relations Association receiving the 2019 National Communication Technology Award for Superintendents.
