This is the image for the news article titled Adjustment to COVID Reporting Begins Sept. 20, 2021The following information was shared with our families in our school newsletters on Sept. 16-17, 2021.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 20, Lakota Local Schools will make a slight adjustment when notifying parents and staff about positive COVID-19 cases.

  • Parents will continue to receive a phone call and follow-up email if their child is identified as a close contact to a COVID-positive individual and must quarantine. Staff will be notified by their building administrator.
  • Any parent of a child who was in class with a COVID-positive individual will receive an email notifying them of this case, and asking them to monitor for symptoms for 14 days. Unless they have been identified as a close contact who must quarantine, these students will continue attending school. This same information will also be shared with staff.
  • A school-wide email will be sent to parents and staff alerting them of any positive cases and whether or not close contacts have been identified.
  • The COVID-19 dashboard will continue to be updated on Fridays by 5 p.m.

With the rise of COVID-19 cases in our area and among children, it is our hope that by sharing information with an entire class, we can all be more vigilant in monitoring for symptoms of the virus.

As a reminder, if someone in your household is waiting on COVID test results, or has tested positive, ALL family members must stay home from school and all related activities unless they are vaccinated. For more information about Lakota’s COVID-19 protocols, please click here to visit our websiteFor this information in Spanish, please click here.
