FAQ UpdatesHave you visited Lakota’s Back-to-School webpage recently? The list of frequently asked questions is updated regularly, as information regarding the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains fluid.

Here are some recent updates that you should know:

Face Coverings: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recently announced that face masks with exhalation valves or vents are not recommended. Per its website, the CDC notes that “this type of mask does not prevent the person wearing the mask from transmitting COVID-19 to others.” We ask that students and staff do not wear this type of face covering in order to help protect others from the spread of COVID-19.

Quarantine Requirements: The district follows directions from the Butler County Health Department (BCHD) when positive COVID-19 cases arise. While our nurses assist the BCHD with contact tracing, the health department determines who is considered high-risk and low-risk.

- High-risk students and staff are defined as having been within six feet or less of the person who has tested positive, with or without a face covering, for 15 minutes or more.
People who are identified as high-risk must quarantine for 14 days from the onset of symptoms. Our nurses look back to the two days prior to the onset of symptoms when they begin gathering names to share with the BCHD for contact tracing. This is because people who test positive can transmit the virus during this time.
- A
nyone who is required to quarantine must do so for the full 14 days because it can take this long for symptoms to appear. A negative test result does not allow release from quarantine.

Quarantine Due to Travel: Following Gov. DeWine’s recommendation, Lakota Local Schools asks anyone who has traveled out of the country or to a state identified as high-risk per the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to quarantine for 14 days before returning to school. The most up-to-date list of states can be found on the ODH website
