March 11, 2022

Dear Lakota Parents and Guardians,

We are pleased to report that as a district, and community, we continue to see a sharp decline in the number of positive COVID-19 cases. Yesterday, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) eased the COVID-19 reporting requirements for K-12 school districts.

As a result, we are now able to adjust our practices and treat positive COVID-19 cases the same as other illnesses. We will monitor for any type of spread we may see, similar to the flu. If we begin to see an uptick in cases, we will notify families in that classroom or building. However, we are no longer required to notify parents and staff of each positive case in their child’s classroom or report positive cases to the Butler County General Health District. Additionally, today will be the last day that our COVID dashboard is updated.

As we move forward, please know that ODH’s “Mask to Stay, Test to Play” quarantine and isolation protocols remain in effect.

Students and staff are welcome to continue wearing face coverings if they would like to, but this is an optional practice. We will continue to promote healthy practices such as proper handwashing, covering your coughs and sneezes and, as always, staying home if you are sick.

Thank you for your commitment to keeping our students and staff healthy. I hope that everyone has a relaxing spring break.

Sincerely,

Matthew J. Miller
Superintendent
