The third annual Lakota Science & Engineering Fair, hosted by Lakota LEADS on Jan. 21 at Hopewell Junior School, showcased an amazing display of projects from Lakota students in grades 5-12. “We are so proud of all of these motivated students who took the time outside of school to create a project and demonstrate their interest and aptitude for science and engineering,” LEADS shared in their recent newsletter to wrap up the event. 

Congratulations to these trophy winners (top score in their category and a Superior rating from the judges):

1st place – Individual Science Projects (grades 5-6) – Ava Kidd, fifth grade, Woodland Elementary, “Baking Soda vs. Baking Powder”	1st place – Team Science Projects (grades 5-6) – Ashley Allen & Brinley Ott, fifth grade, Independence Elementary, “Rotten to the Core”
1st place – Individual Engineering Projects (grades 5-6) – Nathan Lee, sixth grade, Independence Elementary, “Can a Kiddo Make an Electric Car?”	1st place – Individual Science Projects (grades 7-8) – Varun Das, eighth grade, Liberty Junior, “Saving Migratory Animals”

In addition to the trophy winners, congratulations to these outstanding projects that also received Superior ratings from the judges:
