Cyber Academy

It is estimated that there are currently one million unfilled cyber security jobs in the United States - and that this will rise to an estimated 3.5 million within five years.

Industry leaders say regularly that they would prefer students to come right to them with hands-on training and industry certifications, rather than from universities that may be years removed from the industry and may not have up-to-date training materials.

This is the distinct advantage that the graduates of the Lakota Cyber Academy will experience.

With a wide range of industry-recognized cyber-focused courses, the Lakota Cyber Academy curriculum is filled with highly valued certification opportunities that will prepare students for either a career or continued training in higher education. The experience includes direct interaction and mentorship with industry professionals and a host co-curricular opportunities to apply what students learn in class.

This is not your typical high school course, or even traditional “pathway” program. Cyber courses 1, 2 and 3 are designed to partner hands-on, in-class challenges with online preparation for industry certifications in cyber security. The ideal student is someone who loves to solve challenges.

Students will find a series of real world learning challenges embedded in Lakota's Cyber Academy program.

Cyber 1 will start with in-class challenges to be tackled with support from industry partners. Guest speakers from all areas in the cybersecurity field are invited weekly to share 

Cyber 2 students will experience job shadowing with industry partners to see the world of cyber security in action, while continuing to work with their mentors to solve in-class challenges.

Cyber 3 will be a culminating “build your own challenge” experience, through which students can define the path and certifications that most interest them. This all ends with a paid internship in either the spring or summer of the student's senior year.
