Lakota Local Schools-Instagram Internship

Internship Description of Duties/Overview 

The Lakota Local Schools School/Community Relations Department is looking for interns to help with district Instagram content creation. The student interns will:

• Help tell the story of everyday life at Lakota East and West high schools through social media.
• Create Instagram posts for the district’s account 1-2x per week.
• Gain experience in communication through social media storytelling.

Schedule (days/hours)

Interns will be expected to have 2-3 posts per week from each school. We welcome a team of interns at both schools, as well as including the freshman buildings. The internship is designed for the student to work during their school day and they do not need to come to the office.

After initial training, we will have virtual check-in meetings every other week after school.

Internship requirements/prerequisites/standards 

Our ideal candidate is involved in many different activities and enjoys school. S/he understands the importance of sharing many different perspectives – not just their interests and friend groups. 

Best-fit candidates will:

• Tell stories from many different walks of life at the high schools – not just athletics, or art, etc.
• Be well-versed in the opportunities available to students in order to share a variety of content.
• Be familiar with Instagram.
• Take photos and create content that is school-appropriate.
• As mentioned, the photos would need to share many different aspects of the school day – not just their friend group.

Interns will upload their posts directly to a social media management platform for approval. Members of the school/community relations department will approve all posts.
