Arts & Activities
Lakota offers a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular experiences to encourage exploration and learning beyond the classroom.
Band
Lakota's band program provides ample opportunity for students to test their interest and talent in musical performing arts. The program's long record of success, at local and national levels of competition, is a testament to the instructional foundation band students receive in the classroom. Extracurricular programs, like Lakota's two high school marching bands, are built upon that early foundation of musical teaching excellence.
Choir
Lakota's high school choir programs build upon the foundation set in junior high, exposing students to vocal pedagogy, music theory, ear training, sight reading and more.
Especially as they enter high school choir, students have the opportunity to join a wide range of performance groups and ensembles to participate in local, regional and statewide competitions.
Beyond their school performances, choral students frequently share their talents outside the classroom, too. Lakota East choirs, for example, perform an annual holiday concert with the West Chester Symphony and raise funds to travel to Disney World Orlando for workshops and performance opportunities.
Extracurricular Clubs & Activities
The Lakota education goes well beyond the classroom, as students are encouraged to take advantage of Lakota's continuously growing list of after-school programs and activities. It all comes down to letting students explore those interests and passions that may help shape their future career and post-graduation paths.
Throughout the course of their education, Lakota students will have access to hundreds of clubs and activities, ranging from quiz team, art club and community service organizations to archery club, math club and yearbook - and everything in between.
The roster of extracurricular program offerings vary by school and oftentimes are a reflection of current students' interests, volunteer availability and financial support from parent support groups. Visit your school's website for complete details about their individual extracurricular offerings.
Theater & Drama
Whatever your passion for performing arts may be - drama, music, design or technology - there's a place for you in Lakota's theater programs. Beginning as early as junior high, students take to the stage (or behind the scenes if they prefer) to share their talents and stage top notch productions for the entire community to enjoy.
It's just another opportunity for students to explore their creative sides and test their passions beyond the classroom experience.
Visual Arts
The Lakota Visual Arts experience, made available through specials at the younger grade levels and electives in the upper grades, provides students the opportunity to explore creating art. We have one of the strongest visual arts programs in the area.
Students work with a variety of materials and ideas to further their passion as they progress in the many fields of art classes we offer. Our program prepares the student for careers in art with many scholarship opportunities. Students display their works throughout the region and win numerous local and national art competitions.
