Does Lakota offer all-day kindergarten to all incoming students?

Yes. Effective for the 2018-19 school year, Lakota is proud to offer all of our early learners an all-day kindergarten environment.

What allowed Lakota to begin offering all-day kindergarten to all students?

Lakota has been offering an all-day kindergarten option since the 2014-2015 school year, but on a limited basis through a lottery system. The elimination of the former lottery system is made possible by a reconfiguration of buildings and grade bands to make space for all kindergarteners all day. By making two of our elementary schools early childhood schools - and transitioning to a K-2 and 3-6 building model - we are now able to accommodate all incoming students in our all-day kindergarten model.

Is the half-day kindergarten option still available?

Yes. Lakota continues to offer its half-day option for parents and students who prefer it. Requests for half-day will be accommodated through AM kindergarten. Schools offering AM kindergarten will be finalized once registration is complete. Half-day kindergarten will focus on academics to ensure these students are prepared for first grade,  and these students will not participate in daily specials.

How do I register my child for kindergarten?

Kindergarten registration usually opens mid-March and extends through early April. New parents are invited to any one of the available kindergarten information nights leading up to registration.

All registration information is available on the Enrollment Center's Kindergarten Registration site.

How much are school fees in kindergarten?

How many students will be in my child's classroom?

What are school hours for kindergarten?

All-day kindergarten classes meet from 9:10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Half-day kindergarten classes meeting from 9:10 a.m. to 11:55 p.m.

How do I find out my child's bus assignment?

All Lakota kindergarteners receive bus transportation. Bus route information is available in early August. At that time, you will be able to view your child's bus and teacher assignments for the upcoming school year on the registration page of Home Access Center (HAC). A link will be prominently posted from the district’s homepage when the information is available.

How do I communicate my child's transportation arrangements?

If you will be opting out of bus services or will be served by a child care provider at an address other than your home, you must complete a transportation/child care information form

Do I need immunization records at the time of registration?

Yes. To complete the enrollment process, your child is required to bring the most recent record of immunization to registration. We realize that summer birthdays may require more vaccinations, but the updated record can be brought to school once school begins. Ohio Revised Code and Lakota board policy state that any child who has not met enrollment requirements must be excluded from school.

What is Home Access Center, and how do I access it?

Home Access Center (HAC) is a communication tool to help keep students and parents up-to-date and in contact with their teachers throughout the year. Use HAC to find daily assignments and scores, report cards, attendance, and more.

Families new to the district will receive their usernames and passwords by mail from their schools. Review this user guide for more details on how to take full advantage of HAC. Home Access Center is also available in a mobile app, allowing you to view all information from any mobile device. Click here for more information about the app or search for "eSchoolPLUS Family" in your app store.
