Deana Moss

Asst Director, Curriculum & Instruction 9-12, East

Deana collaboratively leads the East HS team of learners by providing instructional direction and support to live the mission and vision of the district

In Deana's Words:

I was born to be an educator. Go back in time a few decades and you would see my stuffed animals working diligently on the discarded workbooks my teachers gave me.  My official plan to become a teacher started with my undergraduate experiences at the University of Cincinnati. I continued my professional learning with my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in differentiated instruction.

My 25 years in education include various roles including classroom teacher, reading specialist, dean of students, adjunct university instructor, and district curriculum coordinator for Finneytown Local Schools. Of all the roles I have served, teaching has always been the most difficult and rewarding.  My love for teaching and learning drives me.

When I am not in my official educator mode, I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband David, and my step-children, JD (15) and Samantha (12).  We enjoy simple nights grilling out on the patio and watching our pup eat sticks in the yard.

You can find me on Twitter (@moss_deana) trying to absorb all things education and Cincinnati.  Although I have many I follow for my professional growth, my favorites are the other educators of southwest Ohio.  My local PLN is my inspiration; we have such talent down the hall and in nearby districts! I bring a wide range of K-12 experiences to the Lakota team.  I love asking questions to seek understanding and to push the thinking of others. Students are my North Star and will always guide the work I do and support I offer. Our collective growth will ultimately impact the students of Lakota

My Favorite Things
