Virtual State of the Schools Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.Lakota Superintendent Matthew Miller will deliver the district’s “State of the Schools” address virtually this year on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. The 45-minute event is open to the entire community and serves as the district-wide update for both last school year and the current one.

Lakota’s third annual event was originally scheduled for last spring, but was canceled due to COVID-19 limitations on large gatherings.

“There have been many changes since last spring and while we’ve communicated a lot of information, this event will focus on Lakota’s top priorities, as they relate to our current and future work,” Miller said. “As always, I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with many of our students and staff who can speak from their own experiences.”

Miller will facilitate a panel of students and staff sharing their personal experiences with such topics as in-person and virtual learning, diversity and inclusion, social and emotional supports, and new curricular programs like INCubatoredu@Lakota. The district will also debut a new video that gives viewers an inside look at learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and how our students and staff are persevering.

The event will take place via Zoom. To help Miller and the panel address the most pressing topics, students, parents, staff and community members are encouraged to participate in the State of the Schools Thought Exchange, which will remain open through Nov. 30.
