Community Conversations

Landing Image

Lakota Schools belong to you, the residents and taxpayers of this community, and we want to hear your ideas, thoughts and opinions about how your schools should approach a changing landscape. That's why the Lakota Board of Education created the Community Conversation Program.

These conversations began during the 2012-13 school year and are about deepening the relationship and building a partnership with residents, finding common ground on our core values around education, defining the purpose of education, and confronting and solving difficult issues in education.

How we educate students is changing rapidly. There are many choices to be made about how schools will look and work as we move forward. These decisions need to be made as a community and with the consideration of many different voices.

To do all that, we need to understand residents, build a better relationship between the school district and the community, and together define our values, purpose and goals. All of that starts with a different kind of conversation. Sometimes that means reaching out to specific group in our community. Other times, it means defining an issue or topic that demands community input.

There will be countless meetings throughout the school year. Please join us to share your voice and maybe even host a meeting!
