It's March Madness, Lakota Elementary style!

Click here to see a recap of the 2017 March Madness Tournament. Information about the 2018 tournament will be posted in early February 2018.

March Madness is a charity and community-sponsored basketball tournament in which any Lakota student (grades 2-6) can participate to represent his or her school and help raise money for local causes.

The tournament will tip off on Monday, March 13 and conclude with the finals on Friday, March 24. The entire community is invited to come out and enjoy the games and help support the benefiting charities! There is a $2 admission into the games for adults; kids are free.

How It Works

For each grade level, there are two divisions for boys and one division for girls. Just like the NCAA tournament, elementary building teams compete against one another. Due to the large number of teams participating and limited gym space, teams are eliminated following their first loss.

More than 1,000 students representing every Lakota elementary school will participate in this year's tournament. Tryouts and practice information will be posted soon.

Each student participating is required to pay $20, which includes a uniform t-shirt and the tournament entry fee.

All students are encouraged to participate and take advantage of the opportunity to compete at the school level!

Volunteers

Tournament leaders are seeking more than 120 adults to help coach. If you would like to help, please contact Kevin Martin at kmartin@pipelinepackaging.com.

Lakota East and Lakota West girls and boys high school basketball players will be volunteering as referees at this year’s games, along with OHSAA certified officials. Many of these kids have played in the tournament during their elementary days.

A special thanks to all our volunteers for their time and commitment!

  • For each grade level, there are two divisions for boys and one division for girls. Just like the NCAA tournament, elementary building teams compete against one another. Due to the large number of teams participating and limited gym space, teams are eliminated following their first loss.

  • Once the brackets are set, they will be posted on this page and updated daily.

  • The 2016 tournament raised more than $10,000 for local charities, and we hope to increase that donation this year.
