Lakota's Communications Department is committed to communicating with intentionality and creating opportunities for continuous engagement between Lakota and the community it serves.

The communications team is responsible for disseminating information to the public in a timely, consistent and transparent manner. A primary point of contact for the media, it also serves as the communications center during emergencies and crises. The office works with schools, parents and community groups to develop strong relationships and communications that help serve as a window into Lakota Schools.

Using a mass notification system, we deliver important school and district news and announcements primarily via email, but oftentimes by phone and text message as well. Participate in a ThoughtExchange

Lakota uses an online platform called ThoughtExchange to regularly engage our community by gathering input on different topics. The tool encourages participants to share their own thoughts by answering a single question and then rate others’ thoughts according to how strongly you agree. As a district, we use the results to gauge the most popular opinions and prioritize our work accordingly.

Media Requests

All media requests, excluding athletics, should go through the School/Community Relations department. Please contact Betsy Fuller, director of school/community relations.

In the event of an emergency, all media contacts are requested to understand that media will not be allowed inside the impacted school building(s). You are asked to refer any questions/requests to the School/Community Relations department. We will work to obtain information from our response team and local authorities on site and respond to you as quickly as possible.
