Hello Central Family,
What a cool way to start the week with the eclipse! Pictures do not do it justice and the camaraderie was a great bonus. Our students were hard at work this week preparing for the state tests and for graduation. We held a senior meeting to focus on graduation as it is getting closer (less than a month) and to remind students of all the fun activities leading up to graduation. Our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are working diligently to finish their year strong as well, and many were here testing even on their virtual day. This should serve as a reminder that we will be giving the state test every Friday in April. In person students should come in for their normal start time (7:40 AM or 11:20 AM) and all virtual students should come to take a test at 11:20 AM unless otherwise arranged. Students can take up to 4 parts of any one test on a given Friday. Students with multiple tests are encouraged to knock those out early in the month.
Additionally, I am super excited that tomorrow we have 22 students who will participate in Representative Warren Davidson’s art competition held at Spooky Nook Sports Facility. Students and their families will be able to check out other artwork from around the city, and it will be revealed tomorrow which piece of artwork Representative Davidson chose to be on display in the Capitol Building in Washington DC. I cease to be amazed at the talent of our students and LOVE any opportunity to showcase their work to others. Shout out to Jodi Kessler for all her hard work and dedication to finding opportunities for them to do that. I want to shout out our Governor Merit Scholars as well. The Governor asked for our top students to be finalists for a scholarship given by his office to students from the state of Ohio going to Ohio schools. We were proud to nominate Ryan Eckrote, Kade Engle, Anna Hare, Megan Yeary, and Riley Ahrin.
We have YEARBOOKS! Our yearbooks came in and are available for purchase for $30 a piece. Every student is in the yearbook (how many schools can say that?!) Make sure you come and check them out. Caps and gowns will be delivered on April 18th to Mrs. Joseph and Mrs. Villani's office. Please see them to pick them up any time after April 18th (Thursday).
As you are planning ahead, April goes so fast, especially with testing. We will have a day off on May 7th, which is a Tuesday for the special election day. Teachers will be here doing professional development. Graduation is May 13th and we are hoping to work through student schedules for next year to set our underclassmen up for as much success as possible. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Lastly, we would like to highlight some NEW options at Butler Tech, that allow our students to get some career training and still attend Central for their academics. Butler Tech is opening up more spots for their senior only welding, firefighting, and medical assisting Email Kira Murphy or Audrey Young with questions or for more information. Butler Tech is such a wonderful chance for our students to double up their learning and launch a career closer to post-graduation.
Have a great weekend!
