Your Voice Matters: Lakota Community Survey Results
WE appreciate everyone who took part in the recent survey about district communications. Your feedback helps us improve our communication with you, the Lakota community. Here’s a quick summary of what we learned and what we’re doing about it:
Participation:
Although fewer people responded this spring (139) compared to last fall (804), your input was invaluable.
Information Sources: Most of you (74%) look for district news weekly or even daily. Although the rankings changed slightly, the top five sources for information remained consistent with the fall survey results. They are:
- District social media pages
- District website
- Neighbors and friends/word of mouth
- Monthly district e-newsletter
- Peachjar e-flyers
Hot Topics:
Again, the topics remained consistent with the rankings adjusting slightly. The top five topics you’re interested in are:
- Academics
- Reminders about district events
- Photos and stories about learning in the classroom
- Master facilities plan
- School safety
Satisfaction:
90% of those who responded rated our communications as average to excellent. While that’s slightly lower than last fall’s 93%, it’s still rather consistent.
Improving Communication:
Here’s what we’re doing to improve communication, based on suggestions we received in the spring survey:
- We have begun adding “key moments” to our YouTube videos like “A Look Around Lakota with Dr. Lolli” and “The Latest from Lolli”. Transcripts are also available on YouTube.
- ParentSquare will launch district-wide in June. This new notification system will centralize school-to-home communications. Please take a few minutes to watch this Getting Started with ParentSquare video for parents and guardians. While the video goes into a wide range of features, Lakota will only be using posts and Smart Alerts at this time.
- We are currently discussing how to better communicate junior and high school sports schedules. Unfortunately, our current scheduling platform is unable to automatically feed dates to our website calendars.
- Tickets to events, including athletics, can be easily purchased from the website. Click on the “I want to” drop-down menu at the top right corner of the district and school websites and then click “Buy a Ticket.”
Thank you again for helping us serve you better. Your feedback makes a difference.
