Rebecca Tompkins Returns to Lakota to Lead Curriculum and Instruction

Rebecca Tompkins Returns to Lakota to Lead Curriculum and Instruction

Lakota Local Schools announces the appointment of Rebecca Tompkins as executive director of curriculum and instruction. This marks Tompkins’ return to Lakota from Sycamore Community Schools, where she held the same position since 2021.

Tompkins brings a proven track record of driving student achievement, guiding core academic programs and managing district resources. Throughout her career, she has relied on student performance data and research to select classroom materials and improve academic testing. At Sycamore, she led districtwide support programs to ensure students received strong intervention and instructional support.

Tompkins has served as an academic leader for nearly two decades. Her journey to administration began in Lakota, shifting from teaching to becoming a curriculum specialist in 2008. She later served as the director of curriculum and instruction at Ross Local Schools for five years before moving to Sycamore.

“Returning to Lakota feels like coming home,” Tompkins said. “I am excited to partner with our talented teachers and staff to give every student the tools they need to succeed. Together, we will continue to build on Lakota’s strong tradition of academic excellence.”

Tompkins replaces Lori Brown who now serves as executive director of pupil services.
