For an impressive eighth year in a row, Lakota Local Schools has earned the Auditor of State Award with Distinction from the Ohio Auditor of State. This recognition comes after the Fiscal Year 2021 financial audit.
“This award recognizes the hard work of fiscal offices to keep clean, accurate records,” said Auditor of State Keith Faber. “Their efforts go a long way toward making Ohio more efficient, effective, and transparent.”
Lakota Treasurer and CFO Jenni Logan is proud that the district will be receiving this honor again. “Earning this recognition is a testament to the hard work of not only my team, but Lakota’s staff across the district,” she said. “It is a testament to our efforts in fiscal responsibility and transparency.”
A school district can receive a “clean” audit if it meets several criteria, including:
- Completing a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) within six months of fiscal year end;
- Having a “clean audit” with no findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, single audit findings or questioned costs; and
- Having no other financial concerns.
Additionally, Auditor Faber recognized Logan for her more than 25 years of public service. The proclamation reads, in part, “Jenni’s professionalism and experience proved valuable and essential to Lakota Local School District and all who had the pleasure of working with her.” Logan will retire from the district in August.
“This award is a team effort,” said Logan. “It starts with the Board (of Education) and includes the executive team and, of course, our fiscal team. Fiscal responsibility is one of the pillars of the district’s strategic plan and we always want to be good stewards of our taxpayers’ dollars.”
