A group of Lakota junior and high school choir directors will host a day-long workshop and community performance at Plains Junior School on Friday, Jan. 26. The "WE are Lakota" Honor Choir is open to any Lakota sixth-grader.
"Our hope is to provide all sixth-graders with an opportunity to perform and learn Ohio vocal music standards through, all while having fun," said Jennifer Akers, the choir director at Hopewell Junior School.
Rehearsal will take place on Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a pizza dinner for all the students and a community concert at 7 p.m. The participate fee of $25 covers the day-long workshop, pizza dinner and a T-shirt. Clinicians and conductors who will be leading the Honor Choir include Akers, Jennifer Dietsch (Ridge Junior), Kat Eroskey (Liberty Junior), Nicole Fink (Plains Junior) and Interim Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Lolli. Susan Hartman and Megan Johnson from Lakota West High School will also provide support.
