Lakota Schools to Hire Second Assistant Superintendent

Lakota Schools to Hire Second Assistant Superintendent

Lakota Local Schools will hire a second assistant superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year, a move that will divide current responsibilities into two areas of focus: operations and student success. The new position will focus on student success with Robb Vogelmann overseeing operations once a new superintendent is named. Vogelmann is currently filling the position of interim superintendent while the Lakota Board of Education conducts a superintendent search.

“Splitting the assistant superintendent responsibilities between two people will create more stability and strengthen Lakota’s district leadership,” said Vogelmann. “Not only will this create a stronger structure and more support for our next superintendent, but it will create more support for our principals and, ultimately, our students and families.”

This is not the first time Lakota has employed two assistant superintendents. Previously the roles were split between overseeing grades K-6 and 7-12. The roles merged into one in 2011 due to budget cuts. Vogelmann shared with Lakota Board of Education members that this move would not create an additional full-time employee because of internal administrative restructuring.

The assistant superintendent of operations will oversee human resources, technology, operations and school and community relations. The new assistant superintendent of student success will oversee curriculum, special education and student services.

Successful candidates for the assistant superintendent of student success will demonstrate stellar interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work productively with district staff, parents and the community. They will be forward thinking and demonstrate their ability as a leader to manage and respond to multiple priorities, respond to parents and staff in a timely manner, respond to emergency situations and resolve problems in a positive manner. In addition to required licensing through the State of Ohio, candidates must possess a masters degree in education or a related field and should have five to seven years of experience in supervising and building administration.

Interested candidates can view the job description and apply online. The position will close on May 23, 2023.
