Reporting A Student Absence
The Missing Child Act requires schools to contact parents of all students who are absent from school each day. To avoid a telephone call and additional work for the school office, parents are asked to phone the school attendance line any time before 9:00 a.m. when their child is absent. If the school office is closed, please leave a message. This will help the school reduce the possibility of a child missing from school without the parents’ knowledge.
Please call 513-777-6194 and choose option 1 if your child is going to be absent or late due to an appointment. Please state student name, teacher and reason for the absence/tardiness in your message. Our attendance line is available 24/7.
The Lakota Elementary Student Handbook attendance guidelines are as follows:
A student is considered EXCUSED for the following reasons:
- Personal illness
- Illness in the family
- Death of a relative
- Quarantine of the home
- Religious reasons
- Emergency reasons that must be considered to have good and sufficient cause for the absence. (Court appearance, etc.)
UNEXCUSED absences include but are not limited to the following:
- Missed bus
- Overslept
- No parent note or excuse offered
If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact our office.
