Ask Away: What Questions Do You Have about Lakota's Master Facilities Plan?

Ask Away: What Questions Do You Have about Lakota's Master Facilities Plan?

The Lakota Board of Education and its facilities committee have been dedicated to moving forward with the District’s master facilities plan. As the District looks to engage the community for feedback about how our schools can support student education now and for the future, WE want to know what questions you have about the master facilities plan.

Join us in building the future of our schools by participating in a ThoughtExchange survey about the master facilities plan. The plan is designed to create a better learning environment for all students - one that provides more programming, reduces class sizes and features improvements in safety and technology.

Through the District’s partnership with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), the State will co-fund approved work on the plan at a 32% reimbursement rate.

One of the key features is the reduction of transitions through a new grade band configuration, which will provide a more stable and continuous educational experience. The master facilities plan calls for:

  • Standalone preschool (Liberty ECS);
  • (11) K-5 buildings (Cherokee, Endeavor, Independence, Ridge Junior, Union, VanGorden, Wyandot and 4 new K-5 schools);
  • (2) 6-8 buildings (East Freshman and Plains Junior); and
  • (2) 9-12 buildings (Lakota East and West high schools).

The plan also calls for:

  • Renovations at Cherokee, Endeavor, Independence, Ridge, Union, VanGorden and Wyandot;
  • Four new K-5 elementary schools;
  • Additions and renovations to Plains Junior and East Freshman to become middle schools for grades 6-8; and
  • Additions and renovations to Lakota East and West for grades 9-12.

Please share questions that you have about the master facilities plan through our ThoughtExchange. The exchange will help guide the District in upcoming community engagement opportunities and communications. The exchange is open through April 17 at 5 p.m.
