Nov. 4 Election Results: Dr. Whitely's Message to the Community

Dear Lakota Community,

The results of yesterday’s vote on Issue 10 provide an opportunity to reflect and refocus as we continue working toward solutions for the future of Lakota Local Schools. We recognize the importance of listening and learning from our community as we plan the next steps for our district.

Our students remain at the center of every decision we make. Although our Master Facilities Plan will not immediately move forward, the challenges it aimed to address—large class sizes, aging infrastructure and facilities, safety and security and long-term sustainability—still exist. We will take time to reflect, continue engaging with our community and determine the best path forward with the Lakota Board of Education.

We also welcome our newly elected school board members, Kelley Casper, Alex Argo and Ben Nguyen, who will help guide these important conversations and decisions. Together, we will continue to build trust, seek common ground and explore solutions that reflect the values and priorities of our entire community.

Thank you for staying engaged and for being part of Lakota’s journey. We look forward to the work ahead.
