From snack bars to handwritten notes to social media posts, we took time to celebrate Lakota’s 1,800 teachers and staff during Staff Appreciation Week May 3-7.
“On a daily basis, I have the privilege of witnessing the level of care, pride and selflessness with which our teachers and support staff do their jobs,” said Lakota Superintendent Matthew Miller. “But it really is so much more than a job to them. I see them building relationships with their students and truly making a difference in their lives. It’s been even more evident this year as staff have gone to great lengths to make the year as normal as possible despite very abnormal circumstances.”
The building-level staff appreciation efforts were topped off with the kick-off of retirement celebrations. Over the next few weeks, district leadership will visit 16 individual buildings to honor the 34 teachers and staff retiring at the end of this school year.
Knowing that the strongest messages of gratitude would come from students, colleagues and parents, Lakota collected nearly 100 shout-outs, which were shared via a series of four special video messages. Click here to watch the complete series of staff shout-out videos shared throughout the week.
