A Note From the Director

A Note From the Director

Hello Preschool Parents and Families,
It’s so hard to believe that we are already at our midyear break! December has just flown by. I wanted to send a big thank you to all of the families who continue to support our program and staff with kind words and gestures. It’s really amazing how a simple thank you can lift someone’s spirit. The support of our families really means so much to all of us, so thank you!

As we approach the holiday season, we have a few important reminders and updates to share with you.

Sick Day Guidelines:
Unfortunately, December brought a variety of illnesses to our preschool rooms and program in general. While we know this time of year generally brings on more illnesses, we seemed to really have an uptick this month. Due to the nature of our program, it is crucial that we maintain a healthy environment for students and staff. As such, I am asking all families to review Lakota’s sick day guidelines, included HERE . Of note, when your child is exhibiting symptoms of a stomach virus, your child should remain at home until there is no vomiting, diarrhea or fever for a full 24 hours, without medication. If your child has had any of these symptoms during the night, he/she should not be sent to school or services the following day. Also of note, if your child’s temperature is 100° or greater (or 1 or 2 degrees above the child’s normal temperature) he/she should remain home until he/she has been without fever for a full 24 hours, without medication. Remember fever is a symptom indicating the presence of an illness. While we understand that missing class or your child’s services is difficult, the health and safety of all of the children and staff is more important long term. Our staff is really doing their part by promoting healthy hygiene and disinfection standards. I am asking families to please be mindful of everyone’s health when you are making decisions about whether to keep your child home from school or services due to illness. I appreciate everyone’s thoughtfulness and consideration to this matter.

Summer Resource Fair
You should have received a flyer and notification from your child’s teacher or service provider about our upcoming Preschool Summer Resource Fair. We know that many families inquire each year about summer opportunities for their child within the community. While it’s hard to think about summer already, we know it will be here before we know it and we know that summer programs fill up very quickly! We have invited a variety of community organizations to attend and share what their program has to offer! This event will provide valuable information and resources for summer activities, camps, and educational programs. Mark your calendars, the event will be held on January 6th from 11:00-1:00 at VanGorden Elementary. Children may attend; however, childcare is not able to be provided. If you would like to attend this event, please fill out this brief Google Form to let us know you are coming.

Tuition Reminder
A friendly reminder that tuition for the upcoming term is due by January 7th. Please ensure your payments are made on time to avoid any late fees. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact our office.
