A Note From the Director

Dear Parents,

Can you believe it’s almost February? January flew by in the blink of an eye! January is always busy but this one just seemed even more rushed!

As we move into February, we are thrilled to remind parents of our upcoming Valentine's Day Dance on February 12th, 6:00-7:30 at VanGorden Elementary School. This event promises to be a fun-filled evening with music, dancing, and a heart-themed activity. We encourage all students to dress in their Valentine’s best and join us for a night of celebration and friendship! All students, both classroom and itinerant, are invited and encouraged to attend! To keep this a special night for our current preschool students, siblings are not invited to the event, and we ask that each current preschool student brings only one adult. If you haven’t yet had a chance to respond to the RSVP, please do so HERE. 

It’s hard to believe but we have already begun planning for the next school year. Recently, your child’s teacher and/or case manager sent out a link asking about your intentions for your child's attendance next year. Your feedback is crucial in helping us prepare and ensure we meet the needs of all our students. If you haven't had a chance to respond yet, please take a moment to do so.

For rising Kindergarten students, each spring, parents of incoming kindergartners are encouraged to attend the Kindergarten Open House on Thursday, April 10 from 6-7 at the early childhood school they will attend in the fall. Get a basic introduction to Lakota, meet the principal and other key staff, tour the school, and learn more about Lakota’s kindergarten program. Current preschool students will not be required to register for Kindergarten, the child’s preschool enrollment will automatically roll over. Parents will be required to complete/update final forms before the kindergarten year.

2/14: Compensatory Day, no school for staff
2/17: No school for students or staff
3/6-7: Preschool parent conferences
3/19-20: VanGorden Preschool picture days
4/10: School year 25-26 Kindergarten Open House for eligible students, held at your child’s homeschool 
4/14-4/18: Spring Break, no school for staff or students
