Board Holds Annual Organizational Meeting

The Lakota Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting on Jan. 9, 2025. The purpose of the meeting was to vote for officers, establish committee members and meeting dates, along with other operating decisions for the calendar year.

The Board unanimously approved Julie Shaffer as president and Kelley Casper as vice president. Furthermore, Douglas Horton will serve as the legislative liaison to the Ohio School Boards Association with Kelley Casper serving as the alternate.

Committee members are as follows:

• Policy Committee: Christina French, Douglas Horton
• Business Advisory Committee: Isaac Adi, Christina French
• Community Engagement Committee: Kelly Casper, Christina French
• Master Facilities Committee: All board members
• Finance Committee: Douglas Horton, Julie Shaffer 

The Board will continue meeting at least once each month. In addition to its regular business meetings, the Board will hold work sessions when needed on Tuesday mornings from 7-9 a.m. at the Lakota Central Office.
