- Community Conversations
As the Lakota Board of Education gears up for its 13th year of Community Conversations, the Board is asking Lakota staff, parents, students and community members to weigh in on possible topics for the 2024-2025 school year.
Participate in this ThoughtExchange before it closes on Thursday, Sept. 5 at noon to generate ideas and suggest topics that you would like the Board to consider. Suggestions should be topics or themes for in-depth discussions, as opposed to specific questions. For rating purposes, please limit each individual thought to a single topic idea. Once you share your thoughts, please rate how well you agree, or disagree, with the thoughts of others - and be sure to check back again before the exchange closes.
Since 2012, the Lakota Board of Education has engaged our residents through its Community Conversation program. Sometimes led by a third-party facilitator, the series of listening sessions allows the Board to hear from the community on specific topics to inform future decision-making. Every conversation is summarized and shared via Lakota's website and other district communications.
The first Community Conversation of the school year will will help the District begin to review and possibly reshape its current cell phone usage policy and administrative guidelines: PO5136 Personal Communication Devices. Mark your calendar for Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Lakota West Freshman's Innovation Hub and be on the lookout for a separate ThoughtExchange launching Sept. 12 to provide input in advance of the in-person conversation.
