Register for Special Olympics Track and Bowling
Eligible students can now register for Lakota's Special Olympics track and bowling. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Feb. 20.
Track will be held March 9 through May 4 at Lakota East High School on Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m.
Bowling will be held April 3 through May 22 at Mason Bowl on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Bowling is paid for by Butler County Special Olympics; please do not sign up if you do not intend for your child to participate each week.
To participate, athletes must be at least eight years old. They must also be identified by an agency or professional as having one of the following conditions:
- Intellectual disability;
- Cognitive delay as measured by formal assessment; or
- Significant learning or vocational problems due to cognitive delay that require or have required specially designed instruction.
All athletes must have a current medical form completed before practice begins. Visit the Butler County Special Olympics sign-up page to register and for more information about the available programs and registration timing for each sport.
The mission of Lakota's Special Olympics program is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children (eight years and older) and adults with intellectual disabilities. The program gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
