Eligible students can now register for Lakota's Special Olympics basketball, swimming and cheerleading teams. The deadline to register for all programs is Nov. 7.
Visit the Butler County Special Olympics sign-up page to register and for more information about the program. All athletes must have a current medical form completed before practices begin at the end of October (swimming) and November (basketball and cheerleading).
The mission of Lakota's Special Olympics program is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children (eight years and older) and adults with intellectual disabilities. The program gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
