Summer Break & Back-to-School Information

Summer Break & Back-to-School Information

Friday, May 20 is the last day of school for all Lakota students. We hope that everyone has a safe and fun summer break with family and friends. Area residents are reminded that many more children will now be outside playing during the day and to use caution, especially in residential neighborhoods.

The first day of school for the 2022-2023 school year is Tuesday, August 16. Similar to the last few years, students in grades 1-12 will begin the year over a two-day period based on the first letter of their last name. For kindergartners, phase-in days will occur over three days. Our youngest learners in preschool will not participate in phase-in days.

A back-to-school FAQ with more information will be posted in July. Lakota will again provide students in grades K-8 with a supply kit that includes pencils, notebooks, etc. Any additional supplies needed will be included in the July FAQ. Students in grades 9-12 will receive supply lists from their teachers at the start of the school year. Preschool will provide all needed school supplies.

Check the district and school websites, along with social media accounts, throughout the summer for additional information and general Lakota news.

Lakota Welcome Center Summer Operations

The Lakota Welcome Center will be open throughout the summer to welcome families new to the district for the 2022-23 school year. The office will continue to support registration and all regular functions virtually.

Please access the Welcome Center webpage for instructions on how to register for school, update your address, withdraw and more. We encourage you to direct all questions to enroll@lakotaonline.com.

You may also call the Welcome Center at 513-682-4120 and your call will be returned within 24-48 hours.

School Offices Closed June 27-July 8

School building offices will be closed to the public for two weeks this summer, from June 27 through July 8. The Central Office will remain open during normal operating hours throughout the summer.

Summer Food Service Program & Free/Reduced Meals Application

Lakota Schools, in partnership with the Faith Alliance, is participating in the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program this year. Meals will be provided daily to all children (ages 1-18 and individuals with disabilities through age 21) - free of charge and regardless of income - beginning May 31 through July 29 (except for July 4). The summer program is funded through the USDA and implemented at no cost to the district.

Summer meals will be distributed at five different locations. Click here to view the complete Summer Food Service Program schedule.

With the expiration of the USDA’s free meals waiver at the end of the 2021-2022 school year, families are reminded to re-apply for free/reduced meals. Applications must be submitted on an annual basis. To qualify for next school year, you must submit your free/reduced application AFTER July 15.
