New Principal, Associate Principals Named to Lakota West

Lakota West Principal Ben Brown shared the following message with families today, announcing the appointment of Scott Laman as the new Lakota West principal and Taryn Barker as the new West Freshman associate principal.

Dear Lakota West Parents and Guardians,

I am excited to announce that Mr. Scott Laman has been named the new principal for Lakota West High School. Mr. Laman has been the associate principal at West Freshman since 2021. Additionally, Mrs. Taryn Barker, assistant principal at West Freshman, has been named the school’s new associate principal.

Mr. Laman began his career with Lakota in 2015 as a science teacher at Ridge Junior School. He then spent one year as the West Freshman assistant principal before being named to the associate principal position. 

Prior to coming to West Freshman in 2021, Mrs. Barker was the coordinator of special education in the Milford Exempted Village School District. She also spent 10 years as an intervention specialist in Milford and three years as an English teacher at Purcell Marian.

Please join me in congratulating both Mr. Laman and Mrs. Barker on their new positions. As I prepare to leave Lakota, I know that our Firebirds are in the best of hands with these two leaders.
