About the Credit Flexibility Option
Do You…
- Work well
independently? Are you highly motivated to plan and complete your own
learning without direct involvement or instruction from a teacher -OR-
- Want to pursue career interests outside of the traditional schedule and classroom offerings at Lakota high schools?
How It Works...
- Credit Flexibility
is available to students with high school standing to earn graduation
credits through alternative methods outside of their regularly scheduled
high school classes.
- Credit Flexibility
options are generated and planned by students according to the
provisions and process outlined in the Lakota Credit Flexibility
Handbook and Application.
- Students can earn credit by:
- Taking an online secondary course.
- Testing out of a course by showing mastery of content.
- Developing an individual plan to include an internship/field experience, community service, educational travel, or other independent study.
See link at right for list of approved online vendors.
All Credit Flex options must be generated and planned by students according to the provisions and process outlined in the Lakota Flexibility Handbook and Application.
Application Process
Students and parents/guardians must first review The Credit Flexibility Handbook prior to completing the application. Then, students who are interested in applying for Credit Flexibility can submit their applications at any time during the school year. Credit is not retroactive. Students must apply and be approved before beginning an online course or activity for Credit Flexibility. Applications cannot be submitted for work or activities already completed.
