Local Schools Treasurer Jenni Logan was named the 2016 Outstanding
Treasurer/CFO of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business
Officials’ (OASBO) Foundation for School Business Management. Logan, a
20-year veteran of school business, received her award Nov. 16 at the
Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA)’s Capital Conference in Columbus. Logan (second from right) along with other honorees pictured here, was honored Nov. 16 at the organization's annual conference.

- GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting:
In addition to Lakota consistently receiving the highest academic rating from the Ohio Department of Education, the district’s financial reporting is rated as excellent as well.
For 13 consecutive years, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Lakota for its comprehensive annual financial report. The Certificate of Achievement is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports.
In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government unit must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, whose contents conform to program standards. Such reports must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.
A Certificate of Achievement is valid for a period of one year only.
2014 Comprehensive Annual Report (CAFR)
Auditor of State Award with Distinction:
The Lakota School District earned the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for its clean audit and excellent record keeping.
The award is issued by Ohio Auditor Dave Yost, and covers the time from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. “Taxpayers expect their school districts to be financially responsible,” Auditor Yost said. “The Lakota Local School District is following through on that expectation."
“It’s a great compliment to Jenni and her team, and recognizes their professionalism and hard work," said Lakota Board of Education President Lynda O'Connor. "School finances are complex and we’re a large district. It’s reassuring to know we have a treasurer and a staff who are so capable and carry out their responsibilities with such expertise.”
- Chuck Gossett Memorial Scholarship Award:
Lakota Treasurer Jenni Logan received The Chuck Gossett Memorial Scholarship Award from the Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) in 2015. This scholarship recognizes an OASBO member for exemplary service to the organization through contributions of time and expertise on legislative issues and involvement. The Chuck Gossett Memorial Scholarship Committee names someone annually who has made significant contributions in the area of education public policy and who has met the criteria established for the award. Jenni received $1,000 to be awarded to a Lakota high school senior(s).
- ASBO Certificate of Excellence:
The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awards a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting to school districts that publish Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports which substantially conform to the principles and standards of financial reporting as recommended and adopted by the Association of School Business Officials. The award is granted only after an intensive review of the financial report by an expert panel of certified public accountants and practicing school business officials.
The District received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014. This was the 14th year the School District has received this award.
