Parent Engagement & Community Outreach
The students and staff at Lakota Local Schools appreciate the sacrifices made every day by our men and women in the military and their families.
Our community resource page offers links to resources for our military families.
Since 2016, the community has gathered with staff and parents to show their support of Lakota students while welcoming them to school.
The concept is a simple one: Line the school’s entrance and give students high-fives and words of encouragement as they are filing into school, providing students with a visual display of all their supporters during times like testing and the start of a new semester.
Lakota CARES is a parent founded and led organization that works in partnership with the Lakota Local School District to support over 2,000 children and their families across the district.
Visit the Lakota CARES website to learn more and get involved.
Families in Need
Butler County Success is a partnership between Lakota and the Butler County United Way, Butler County Job and Family Service and the Butler County Educational Service Center. Through this partnership, each Lakota school has a community liaison to help our families in need.
Kinship Connections is designed for grandparents and other kinship caregivers of Lakota students. Monthly meetings and other resources connect participants with one another, but also provide new tools and strategies for supporting their student(s) through their educational journey.
Kinship caregivers are relatives who provide care for minor children. There are 227,862 (8.6%) of children under 18 who live in homes where grandparents or other relatives are responsible for their care.
Lakota Local Schools is proud to announce the launch of neighborhood bridges’ “Gateway for Kindness” program - a resource to facilitate community support of students and families in need within the Lakota school system.
As a tool for teachers, counselors and social workers, neighborhood bridges Lakota will involve the surrounding community to aid in meeting the essential needs of at-risk and underprivileged students as a way of removing barriers to learning.

Free Little Libraries
Little Free Library book-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce.
